Message from our Director of Nursing

Hi. My name is Jason Helton, Chief Nursing Officer for Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield and I have a vision for the future of nursing here.

It’s all about providing care and advocating for patients; and we, as a community of nurses, will create a culture that inspires the achievement of superior outcomes through a shared vision, professional excellence, interdisciplinary leadership and collaboration.

My objective is to create the image of Heart Hospital nurses as one that people will admire. I worked as a Quality Director in a large system prior to coming to Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield, so my focus is always on quality care and patient outcomes.

There is no denying that nursing has changed in the last two years and that healthcare will face many challenges in the years to come. However, one thing will always remain the same: Nursing is a profession founded on passion, care, and love for the human experience.

Exceptional care requires respect for our patients, families and colleagues. From honoring patient cultures and developing accessible leaders to providing many ways to share your input and recognize excellence, we’re committed to being an inclusive, respectful place that values our talented, diverse colleagues.

I invite you to come experience Heart’s collaborative culture and world-class hospital for yourself. Whether you’re just starting your career, are new to Bakersfield, or learning a new discipline, there’s a place for you at Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield .
