For Visitors

For Visitors

At Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield, our patients enjoy full visiting privileges; however, at times we may need to restrict these privileges at the patient’s request or because of medical necessity.

“Effective August 12, 2021, in alignment with California Department of Public Health recommendations, our visitation guidelines have been updated.”

Visitor Guidelines

Check-In

All visitors must check-in at Concierge and receive a visitor badge. This badge must be visible at all times.

Patients have the right to choose who may visit them. In certain situations, Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield reserves the right to limit the number and time of visits. This may be due to:

  • Physician requests restrictions based on the patient’s medical needs
  • Patient needs privacy (especially during procedures or tests)
  • Lack of adequate space to accommodate all visitors
  • Any situation that would cause an unsafe environment for patients or staff

We ask for your cooperation if a staff member requests you to leave the room and return to the waiting room. This will allow us to fully concentrate on the patient’s care and needs. You will be allowed back into the room as soon as it is safe to do so. If you have concerns about our visitation policy, please speak to the manager in the area you are visiting.

Clean hands: take the pledge.

Are your hands clean? It’s one of the best ways to keep patients free from infection.

We’re working hard to do our part. But hand hygiene involves everyone: doctors, nurses, staff—and you. So please take the pledge and be sure to wash your hands or use antibacterial gel every time you enter and leave a patient’s room. Thank you for helping us keep our patients safe!

  • While visits are welcomed, please consider your needs for rest and recovery.
  • In the best interest of the health of our patients, we ask visitors who have a fever, symptoms of a cold or the flu, or any type of communicable disease to refrain from visiting.
  • We believe it is important for you and your family to be comfortable communicating with your caregivers. Do not hesitate to ask questions or seek assistance when needed.
  • The number of visitors may be limited to two at a time in the Critical Care Unit and children under the age of 12 are discouraged.
  • Visits between the hours of 7 – 8 a.m. and 7 -8 p.m. are limited to RN discretion, to allow information to pass efficiently between shifts.
  • Visit the Heart Rock café where coffee is complimentary for our visitors.
